Freelance Web & SEO Copywriter: Brighton & London
Let’s make your copy better
My clients often call me because something isn’t working.
So maybe you’re looking for a copywriter because:
- Your new website looks great and gets hits, but traffic isn’t converting to business.
- People are reading your new brochure, but not ‘getting’ what you do.
- Your website doesn’t appear high in search results.
- You want to get more from the web, perhaps using social media to spread your messages.
So how can I write for your business?
Okay, so you’re wondering how I write for a multitude of different businesses, and how I will write for you.
Firstly, I should mention that I have written copy for:
- Gift companies
- Public sector agencies
- Web developers
- Designers
- Artists
- Retailers
- Financial service providers
- Medical service companies
- Housing associations
- Software developers
- Marketing agencies
- Social networks
- Web applications
- and much more!
Letting your copywriter get to know you
Clearly, I don’t know everything about everything, so before I write your copy I’ll need to spend time getting to know you and your business. This is an easy process, generally involving a meeting over coffee or a phone call.
Good copy takes two
Producing great copy requires two things: you and me.
Your input provides the basic information, the essentials of:
- What your business does
- Why your customers choose you
- What benefits you offer customers
While I provide:
- Writing skill
- An understanding of the web
- SEO magic
- Marketing and advertising knowledge
- Powers of persuasion
Together, we’ll produce crisp copy that engages your reader and drives them to act.

Woah! I’ve never hired a copywriter before…
That’s fine, many of my clients had never used a copywriter before they found me, so I can help you through the process.
Here’s what happens when you engage a copywriter:
- You explain what you need.
- I provide a quote (your quote has a fixed price, so you know exactly what you’ll be paying) and an outline of when I can complete your work.
- You ask me to proceed.
- We discuss your business in greater detail. You may have old copy that I can use for reference, or I may ask you to make notes about any complex services you offer.
- On the agreed date, I get to work.
- I email you a first draft.
- You have a few days to think about it.
- You email me with any required changes.
- I make your requested amendments.
- Your copy is complete.
Information for Copywriters
My website has lots of information for anyone interested in hiring a copywriter, or writing copy, or becoming a copywriter, or finding out what a copywriter does. If you have questions about copywriting you may want to read Who Needs Copywriters? or read about My Copywriting Style.
I’ve recently added two free writing guides: Writing for the Web, and Writing for Bloggers. I have a copywriting blog too. I write copy in plain, simple English that everyone can understand. I can also help you write, with writing coaching.

Leif is a well-organised, highly professional copywriter and he's always been flexible enough to deal with occasionally tight deadlines. He's written a variety of copy for MyMotor, including emails, informative pieces and the copy that guides users through our social network. Leif certainly knows his stuff and puts a lot of thought into his work.
